About Mignon Parker, LCSW, CSTIP
Hello, I am Mignon Parker, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Sex Therapy Informed Professional. I work with individuals, couples, and families facing ongoing challenges such as anxiety, depression, difficult childhood experiences, and relationship issues. My aim is to help you stop feeling overwhelmed and start facilitating positive change.
My Journey to Becoming a Therapist
Like many of my clients, I am also human and have had my fair share of life experiences that have shaped me into the therapist I am today.
Helping People Is A Gift to Others and Myself
As a therapist, I find my work to be fulfilling, and I enjoy helping people become healthier and more empowered, as well as watching their lives flourish. The most rewarding aspect of my job is knowing that I have made a positive impact on people’s lives.
I Have Compassion for People and Bring an Open, Non-Judgmental Presence to Sessions
In sessions, I bring a natural ability to reflect people’s thoughts back to them, collaborate with them to set goals, explain mental health symptoms in an easy-to-understand way, and help them heal past traumas and manage the present. People who know me describe me as a good listener who can help them feel heard, understood, and seen and start to heal.
Our Sessions Are Focused on You
During our sessions, I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can be yourself, focus on setting goals, and work on reaching them together. I understand that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, and our sessions will be tailored to meet your specific needs and concerns.
As a Therapist, I Embrace the Following Philosophies
I believe that everyone is worthy of love and care, and we only heal if we take care of ourselves. I believe therapy works when both of us are committed to healing and that we are strong enough to face what we may be going through. Lastly, I believe that therapy should address the person as a whole, including their mind, body, and spirit.
My Professional Background
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified Sex Therapy Informed Professional (CSTIP) who owns and operates iLera Counseling, LLC, a therapy practice in Georgia providing telehealth services to residents of GA and FLA. I earned my undergraduate degree (BA) from Clark Atlanta University, a Liberal Arts Master (M.L.A) in Anthropology/African Studies from Boston University, and my Master of Social Work (MSW) from Clark Atlanta University over the past decade. I have served others in many capacities, including foster care case manager, HMO case manager, community-based therapist, mentor to caregivers of children with severe emotional disturbances, and trauma-informed therapist to children and teens. In private practice, I enjoy helping individuals, couples, and families overcome challenges that hinder them from living the lives they desire. If you are looking for a therapist who is compassionate, non-judgmental, and committed to helping you heal, then I am here for you.
